About Becky

Becky Livingston, Canadian author

Hi, I'm Becky

I’m a Certified Travel and Life coach, speaker, and Founder of Vital Journeys at Any Age where I help women 55+ to revitalize their lives through slow, gentle travel. I’m also the author of the BC best-selling memoir, The Suitcase & The Jar: Travels with a Daughter’s Ashes, completed after travelling the globe for two years. I also work as a Continuing Education instructor with Simon Fraser University, teaching “Travel and Transitions,” a course exploring how travel can support life changes in midlife and beyond

My work has been featured in a variety of publications, including The Vancouver Sun, CBC News, BC Bookworld, Journey Woman, Modern Loss, and Hecktic Travels.

I have presented on CBC Radio, at Whistler Writers Festival, Word Vancouver, Simon Fraser University’s ‘End of Life Matters’, the Vancouver Health Care Professionals’ Symposium, as well as on various podcasts and at international gatherings.

Born and raised in England, I immigrated to Vancouver, B.C., aged 24. Now, in my mid-60s, I combine careers in public education that span many countries (UK, Canada, Australia), peer support consulting, business administration, and memoir writing.

This allows me insight into the challenges inherent in these professions and cultures.

I am an Integral Associate Coach™ and a Travel Coach in the Travel Coach Network, with a B.Ed. (UK) and an M.Sc. (USA). I am a mother to two daughters, for which there is no training.

Over the past fifteen years, I have moved many times (as invigorating as it is unsettling) which allows me to live a life true to my values, and the freedom to work on what I want, when I want. To coach, to speak, to write, to teach, to learn.

I love meeting new people.

I love spending time alone, especially walking in quiet places, or cooking pretty much anything. (I even like washing the dishes!)

My vibrant well-being and somatic practices allow me to stay open to the emotional demands of navigating change. Showing up to life with vitality and vulnerability is my commitment.

Perhaps the thing I’m most proud of is that I live within my means and enjoy the same minimalist lifestyle I learned while traveling.

An absolutely fantastic presentation by Becky Livingston about the loss of her daughter, and how traveling with her daughter’s ashes helped her heal from devastating loss
